Chompers

While doing the Greatgrandparent's shindig in Santa Rosa, CA this weekend, my front-two teeth on the bottom popped through. Nursing just got a bit more interesting for mom!

50th Anniversary

This weekend Mom, Dad, Grandma Cynthia, and Papa Jack all flew down to Oakland, CA (where I was conceived by the way) so that we could work our way to Santa Rosa, CA in honor and anticipation of my Great-Grandparent's 50th wedding anniversary. Fifty years - Wow... I haven't even been alive for 50 months!

There were so many interesting and wonderful people attending the celebratory weekend. As the only baby involved in this shindig, you can only imagine the attention I was receiving. No complaints here.

Saturday was the big day. Daddy helped organize a golf outing consisting of: Great-Grandpa Jer, Papa Jack, and Great-Uncle Bob Herzog. I hear the boys had fun. After golf the entire family met at the beautiful ground of the Santa Rosa Junior College (a learning institution my mom attended briefly) for some professionally photographed family portraits. We are all aware of how photogenic I am, but thank goodness for Daddy... He's the king of the lazy eye and could rest easy since the shots were flashless due to being outdoors. Whew!

After the photos the entire family congregated at Hotel La Rose in Santa Rosa's charming Railroad Square. After a meet-and-greet cocktail hour, we all moved to a private dining room that was part the hotel's lovely restaurant, Josef's Restaurant and Bar. In addition to all of the family peeps that I had been hanging with for the past few, there was a ton of Joan and Jer's friends and a bunch of Jer's former business associates. What a crowd!

Somehow neither Daddy nor I managed to take a single photo (I'm still dumbfounded over that one). We're going to have to sit back and hope that the pro snaps are up to par. I still can't quite get over the fact that they've been married for 50 years. Congrats guys!

1st Father's Day

The Father's Day festivities actually started yesterday when we headed over to Papa Jack and Grandma Cynthia's house in Issaquah. Daddy has been obsessed with BBQ for a while now and Saturday was his time to strut his stuff and be the pitboss that he's dying to be. Brisket and babybacks anyone? Daddy proceeded to tend the BBQ until about 11:00PM that night. Egads.

Daddy got a some very nice gifts from both Mommy and Grandma Cynthia and Papa Jack. But it was Papa Jack that got the really sweet gift featuring the mug of yours truly.

Is Papa Jack proud or what?!

Today Daddy and Papa went golfing and had a great time. Us gals went shopping and had a great time as well... I got some new clothes (which is always a good thing). The afternoon was capped off by our second BBQ dinner in two days. Yums and funs!

Museum of Glass

We met up with our friends the Smith's (Tia, Doug, and Campbell) and headed down to Tacoma's Museum of Glass. We all took in the exhibits and a live display of glass sclupting in the museum's in-house studio called the Hot Shop. Very cool.

More Talk About Poop

I don't want to jinx anything, but for two nights in a row I haven't blown out my bed at night. Although I did manage to blow out my parents bed yesterday morning. And for once in a long, long time, I actually came home from day care in the outfit I left in. Blowouts being on hiatus is OK by me!

World Record for Pooping

Teething induced diarrhea - Day Two. Call the Guinness Book people... Daddy has been changing my diaper about 4 times an hour for six hours straight. Ring of Fire.

Volunteering, But Not In A Tennessee Sort of Way

Alrighty... Where to begin? Let's not beat around the bush here. I'm teething goddamnit. Therefore I am suffering from an acute bout of diarrhea on top of cranium-numbing pain. Nice, eh? No, not really. When your diaper is filling up with a substance resembling arugula pesto about every two hours, you'll know what hell I'm living through right now. Let's just say that it was a long night that stretched into a long morning. My parents are a bit grumpy that their wake up call this Saturday morning was a painful 5:30AM. And I'm going to feel bad for them? Ha! Again, I'm the one with the molten lava ass here!!

All diaper discomfort aside, today Mom, Dad, and I went to Benefit Playground on the south-end of Beacon Hill for an event sponsored by Starbucks celebrating a recent wave of grants and upgrades to this cute little park. Joining us were Mom's teammates: Elizabeth Tan, Christine Clare, Mary Barrett, Tim Casey, Mark Miller, Johanna Pajanen-Dierks and a whole bunch of other Starbuckians. Our job was to look after the kid's activity table. The activities consisted of planting Cosmos seeds in Starbucks cups and water-coloring butterflies made out of Starbucks coffee filters for the wings and black pipe cleaner for the body/antennae. I kept a watchful eye over the activities from the comfortable climes of a Daddy-supported Baby Bjorn perch.

We ran into a bunch of friends: Jessica Gleeson, Carla and Andrea Archambault, Roger Keaton, Gail Eng, Johanna's family and more. Johanna's youngest daughter is also named Ella. Here's a picture of the two Ella's with my dad...
