La Vida Buena

What can I say? Life is good. But then again it's not. There are so many unfortunate situations happening around that globe that it's both too staggering and depressing for me to delve in to now. What is good though, is my life thus far. I have two of the most loving parents a lil' gal could ask for. Actually, my whole family is pretty damn awesome.

This week was not without it's trials and tribulations though. My daycare, Cosmopolitan Kids, was without it's helmsperson this week. Amy Lower was on a much deserved vacation to NYC. One can only imagine the partying and shopping that she suffered. Her um, plight, left me in the capable hands of others at the center, but things just weren't the same. We sure did have our fun though. The weather this week was stupendous and Cindy at Cosmo is a huge champion of us kids having our outdoor time. Love her for that and thank her that I did not get sunburned!!

On Thursday Mommy stayed overnight in Sequim, Washington because she was visiting three of her accounts from Thursday to Friday. I've been demanding on Daddy in the past, but I will be the first to say that the guy is great. Therefore giving him a break was in order, or you could just say I went easy on him. We had our fun. We went to the Barking Dog (yet again) and were adored by their charming staff. Why is that place so captivating? Could it be the 30 beers on tap, the full bar, and the seasoned waffle fries?

Mommy stayed at the Red Caboose Getaway in Sequim. The proprietors there are Olaf and Charlotte and took really good care of Mommy. All of the rooms are converted rail cars. Crazy, eh? She stayed in the Orient Express car and loved it. Olaf let her hang out in the unoccupied Casey Jones car because it had free Wi-Fi. Next time they all will. Mom loved it, and especially Charlotte's included breakfast: homemade cinnamon swirl bread, corn bread and sausage-stuffed apple, a Dutch baby, and then a mini chocolate mint tart to finish.

Friday puts us on the eve of the big Memorial Day weekend. What's an 8 month old to do? Hit a few BBQ's, host a dinner party or two, and just hay-lax man. Haylax is a reference to our time in Brazil. R's are pronounced as H's. So for example, Raphael is Ha-Fi-el, Robson is Hobson, and Rock & Roll is Hock & Holl. So now you see that the Brazilian hay-lax is what we commonly refer to as "relax". Odd, eh?

Ma-ma

Oh yes, yes indeedy. Ma ma has been said. Several times in fact. Guess who is really, really psyched right about now. Mama perhaps?

Vancouver, WA

This weekend consisted of a road trip to Daddy's old stomping grounds for a visit with Grammy Sam and the Marum's. Mike Marum is Dad's brother-in-law and his daughter Anna is his niece. Grammy Sam's birthday is on May 31st and Anna's is on June 5th, so this was kind of a belated Mother's Day visit for Daddy and an opportunity to pre-celebrate a couple birthdays.

After a hang session at Grammy Sam's on Saturday, we went to The Heathman Lodge for a dinner at it's restaurant, Hudson's Bar & Grill. Food and wine were consumed, good times were had, and then we retired back to Grammy Sam's for some wonderful Macrina cake that Mommy picked up in honor of the birthdays. All in all, a great weekend.

Beat the Bridge

Today we all went down to Husky Stadium to participate in the Beat the Bridge event for diabetes. Mommy ran in the 8K run while Daddy and I did the 4 mile family walk alongside PEPS buddy Derin Basden and his son Asher. Also running in the race were PEPS parents Doug Smith (Campbell's father) and Debbie Reber (Asher's mom).

No sooner had we begun our walk before a torrential downpour started, the first of my young life. Mom had a good run and a lot of fun. We can't wait to do it again next year. In the meantime, check out a couple of photos from the event in my PhotoBlog.

I just want to give a shout-out to my mom and wish her a Happy Mother's Day. I could not even begin to imagine a better mother or person to have in my life. I LOVE YOU MOMMY!!

Hot Blooded

"Well, I'm hot blooded, check it and see
I got a fever of a hundred and three"

Unfortunately Foreigner nailed it when describing my current condition. All of the kids at Cosmo are sick and Mommy had to break loose from work today and come get me. I hope this passes quickly.
