Fat Tuesday

While visiting Brett, Alice and Anne-Marie Herron last night, we also had the pleasure of taking in the evening with Jack and Martha Gruber and Brett's mom Karen. As usual, Jack and Martha came bearing gifts for the new mom, new dad and new baby as well as a sweet poodle purse for yours truly and a fun Zydeco CD for Daddy. Add to that some beads and masks for Mommy from a recent trip to New Orleans and we had the makings for a good time.

So here we are at Mardi Gras and Mommy and Daddy are shown here very much in the spirit of things. Daddy is sure the guilt will set in later about drinking all of Papa's rum. Or not.

Baby Loves Disco

Today Daddy and I headed down to Club Heaven in Pioneer Square to meet Owen Moriarty and his family: Lynn, J.P., and daddy Joe. The concept of Baby Loves Disco is to transform a hip nightclub into childproof discos for infants, toddlers and parents to get their groove on. Owen and I bounced around between shaking our things on the dance floor and one of the recovery areas for the beautiful people to take a breather and posture in all of their baby couture. Thanks to Owen's mommy Lynn Burgess for the invite and a great time!

Shannon and James Mead

Today Shannon and James Mead arrived all the way from Toronto, Ontario via Vancouver, BC. As you may recall, Mommy and Daddy paid them a little visit this summer to attend their wonderful wedding in Pembroke, Ontario. This is my first time meeting James and the last time I saw Shannon (in December of '04) I wasn't much for conversation. Oh how times change.

And like any good friend of mine, they came bearing a gift: "Love You Forever" by Robert Munsch. Shannon tells us that this book is near and dear to every Canandian child's heart. I can't wait to have her read it to me!

At Home Today

Howdy y'all. Gotta stay home from school today because of being sent home yesterday with a 103 degree fever. I'd like to extend an inviitation to bring me cookies or popsicles if you're in the neighborhood. I will be planning on keeping my six o'clock hair appointment at Beachcomber Kids though... Girl has got to look good at all times.

Sequimming Upstream

This weekend we headed to sunny Sequim, Washington on the northern part of the Olympic Peninsula. I say sunny because Sequim is known for 300 sunny days per year as a result of being in a rain shadow of the Olympic Mountains. Well, somebody forgot to tell Sequim that and we were rained on the entire time.

Good times were had by all and it's someplace we'd like to go back to this summer to take in all of the lavendar the area is also famous for. This trip was about life's simple pleasures: Digging in the sand, reading books by the fire, gorging on Papa Murphy's, ferry boat rides, and more.
